Birds and Mammals Without Borders – Students will read an article about peace parks or bi-national parks. The article provides understandings for why these parks are important. The follow-up activity requires children to use the information from the text to write appropriate questions for specific answers. The Dear Colleague letter offers an idea for encouraging children to see various perspectives of a situation. This activity is available on the primary and intermediate levels and correlates with the National Social Studies Standards: Civic Ideals and Practices and Culture, People, Places and Environment, and Individuals, Groups, and Institutions.
