Dear Maggie Partners:

As Halloween approaches, www.missmaggie.org takes a closer look at that spooky, dark, creepy yet overly misunderstood mammal, the bat!  Please join us in sharing with your students the positive contributions of these flying creatures before they take flight this All Hallows Eve:

  • “Bridging Understandings about Bats” available at the emergent reader, primary, and intermediate level
  • Content on the Mexican free tail bat and White Nose Syndrome
  • Labeling for comprehension
  • Available in Spanish

In the Dear Colleague letter

  • Background on the activity
  • Discussion on the value of asking good questions
  • Answer key
  • Correlates with the National Social Studies Standard

Looking for more on bats? Purchase entry into “Maggie’s Treasure Trove” where you’ll find “Bats, Rats and Royalty”, “Going Batty about Non-Fiction Writing” and hundreds of other activities for only $15.00 per year!
