Children will read an article about noise in parks. A distinction is made between noise and sound. The impact of noise is discussed and children are asked to write how noise might impact an animal or visitor to a park. The Dear Colleague letter explains how the ideas in this article can translate to sound in your classroom. The activity is available on the primary and intermediate levels and
correlates with Standard F, Science in Personal and Social Perspectives of the National Science Standards.
