Rhymes about hummingbird traits and habits are presented. Children use the information in the “poetry” to solve word problems. Ideas for a center extension are discussed. This activity is available on the primary and intermediate levels and correlates with the Number and Operations Strand and the Problem Solving Strand of NCTM’s standards.
