Maggie Partners:
Multi-tasking as we all often do, our Maggie team was alternately scanning Tweets for inspiring education fodder while composing ideas for our Weekly Activity Packet. Here great minds collided and we quickly adapted our activity to address teacher’s needs for process problems in math education rather than simply problems that require calculation. As a result, this week’s math WAP has been modified to encourage students to not just solve a problem, but consider HOW they would go about finding solutions. At Maggie’s Earth Adventures we consider ourselves as being at least a half hour ahead of what our educators are looking for and the beauty of our program is we are engaged, current and flexible. Sign on today if you are not already receiving our FREE activities each week.
Why not take the opportunity at the beginning of the year to work with your students to create your own poster about the many important math problem-solving approaches that can be applied? I find a child/class crafted poster resonates more with students than a generic, store bought one so save your money for something else. And while I’m talking about posters, please make sure they are hung at eye-level. Children are more apt to use the important material they need if it is easily seen by THEIR eyes!
For every problem, this is a solution. Or many.
Happy teaching.
