This bookmark is for YOUR use. You may use abbreviations and short ways of writing your questions.

Good readers read all the bold face headings before they start to read. They make questions out of these headings. Start your questions with words such as how, what, who, where, when, and why.

For example, if a heading says, Fossil Fuel Problems, you could write the question, "What are some fossil fuel problems?" Because these questions are to help you read and understand, you might want to abbreviate and write, "What are FF prob?"

After you have read the section about fossil fuel problems, turn your bookmark over and jot down an answer. This is one place that you do NOT have to write complete sentences. These are notes to help you! Jot down words you didn't know. Look them up or ask a friend for help. Remember that Maggie's Earth Adventures can help you learn difficult words with the click of your mouse!
