Children read an article about the migrating elephants of Mali. They learn reasons these animals are special and why they are in danger along with methods being used to help local people protect these unique creatures. A word search is provided using vocabulary from the text. The Dear Colleague letter describes other follow-up activities. This WAP is available on the primary and intermediate levels and correlates with the National Social Studies Standards: People, Places and Environment.
