“What Makes 3/14 Special?” – Students will read factual sentences about Pi Day. Follow-up activities are designed to help children consider how mathematicians celebrate this special day. Students write their own true/false sentences, compose a Tweet, and may participate in other activities such as identifying meaningful number combination in Pi. This activity is available on the primary and intermediate levels and is aligned with the “Connections” strand of NCTM’s Process Standards.
